    Default Popup Photo

    1. Is it possible to have the photo close when the user clicks anywhere outside the popup or presses the ESC key?

    2. Is it possible to cause the main (launching) page be darkened (aka lightbox effect) when the popup photo is displayed?

These are both standard lightbox behaviours.

If not, can they be added to the wish list?

    Thx!

Make your own popup layer and use a 30% (or whatever) transparent mask with your photo on top.

Attached is a quick and dirty example.

Your example is a mouseover, not a click to popup. Also, it only closes when you move your mouse outside the layer (browser window in preview mode).

what's the download cost of doing this? Is the semi transparent black a semi transparent png laid underneath the image? or does XWD export the image and bg as one large png file?
I'm just wondering about the file sizes of using something like this for a gallery? although I have to say it looks great.

Hi John, save and export the site, then look in the index_htm_files folder. You'll see that the large tree image is one file and the transparent black background is a separate image. In fact the transparent black overlay png is all of 4Kb's! so file size it's negligible.

The PNG format has highly effective compression of the uniformly filled areas and repeating fragments of image. So there's no large overhead using the page size PNG file with a repeating tile fill instead of the small, one tile file used as a repeating background.
