    Re: Brush creation question? HELP!

    Ivan, Nice brush. Great texture!

I've been having a problem creating brushes recently. Perhaps you can help.

When I create a line with the new brush, I can see the actual brush stroke but as soon as I release the mouse it disappears & all that's left is the line. It's drawing the stroke but then it's gone. Wire frame view shows nothing but a line. Regular view shows nothing but an invisible line. No stroke...

    Idea's suggestions?

    Thanks a lot !

If you create à line just after creating your brush it often draws it at 0 point width or without outline (specially if your brush was made of shaoes without outlines and you had checked "Give new objects the most recent attributes" in your general options. Thus the best is to choose a width in the Line width slider for your new brush before drawing with it.

I hope that it can help !

    ivan

    Hi Waldo,

Obvious answers first.. sorry, but what is your line width? You will not see much of a brush with the default line width... If you have covered the obvious... then... Sorry to insult your intelligence my friend.

Oh ! And I forgot : if you want to give a strong 3D like effect to a line with a brush applied, convert the line to shapes, ungroup, add shadow and group the result.

    Ivan,
    Magnificent as always!
Although, Ivan, after downloading the file to my brushes folder for Xaraxtreme I can't open Xaraxtreme, I get an error message and the program closes.

    Ron,

I must say that I never use this brushes folder ...! Did you have this kind of problem with some other of my bitmap brushes ?

    kindly,
    ivan

I'll check my line widths. I don't recall it being to thin. Perhaps it was too thick?

I too get an error and Xara won't open when I place your file in the brushes folder.
