Now that MAGIX has released Xara from the dungeon, I feel free to say I never cared for their Engineer Art splash screens.
I've seen many, many examples of Affinity Designer work, and it's terrific, but experienced users of Xaras Designer have the tools to make something positively unique and inspiring to view as the program loads.
Yes, I modeled the balloon letter, but the final screen you see here is all vector—I needed a reference from which to draw the guy. And as usual, I export just about everything I post online from Xara. I've got our Cannon printer is calibrated to just the right Hue gamut for sRGB space, and I couldn't be happier with our inkjet prints when we need them.
My Best,
Gary
Oh. My. God.
It looks as though someone dropped acid and then tried to copy Adobe splash screens from 1994.
It's been therapeutic replacing the screens for what seems like years. Xtreme 5 was the last one that advertised and inspired possibilities on startup.
And with that...
Why none of Affinity's competitors have adopted a user-centric business model is beyond me.
Regardless, I have an unstoppable loyalty to Xara for two reasons: 1.) over 25 years of investment in learning and files, and 2.) even the program has been static in its growth, you can sil do things with t that are very difficult in other vector programs.
My Best,
Gary
