There has been trouble with cambridge32 before. I seem to remember that it was solved by adding an exception in the AV program. Also, downloading the program rather than using it from the DVD helped in some cases.

thanks everyone. I seem to have everything working using 32 bit so I'll give that a try for a while and see what happens.
I did try downloading a fresh copy of the 64 bit but that was no different than the first one. I haven't seen the CD version yet.
