    I used Xara so far only for creating on-screen graphics. When I recently tried to produce a postscript output for imagesetting I encountered the following problem:

    I printed a final artwork form Xara to file using the Linotronic 630 printer driver (recommended by my imagesetter buro) under Windows NT 4.0.

    When pre-viewing the resulted file in GhostWiew, a postscript error occured and at the imagesetter refused to print the file as well (it complained about some "insufficient resolution").

    After fiddling a bit with a .ps file I discovered that the source of error is the following piece of code between the
    <BLOCKQUOTE><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR>%%Resolution: 2438<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
    and
    <BLOCKQUOTE><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR>%%EndExitServer<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
    lines:
    <BLOCKQUOTE><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR>0

    count 0 eq { % is the password on the stack?
    true
    }{
    dup % potential password
    statusdict /checkpassword get exec not
    } ifelse
    { % if no password or not valid
    (WARNING : Cannot perform the exitserver command.) =
    (Password supplied is not valid.) =
    (Please contact the author of this software.) = flush
    quit
    } if
    serverdict /exitserver get exec
    statusdict /changeresolution known {
    2438 statusdict /changeresolution get exec
    } if<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

    It was enough to delete these lines and then both GhostView and the imagesetter worked as expected.

    Hope this helps someone. And BTW: always use GhostView to pre-check your postscript outputs. It is free and it can be a real money-saver.

    You'll need both Ghostscript and GSView.

    GS quickly became indispensable when I had to start producing PS files for a service bureau.

    I wonder where that code came from... I suspect that the Linotype driver is at fault here. It's most peculiar for Xara's headers and eof's never had these

    I wonder if you are posting in Xara X and looking for your posts in Xara 2?

    At any rate you are now appearing as a Full Memember.

    I admit it's rather confusing these two threads when we once had only one. But I'll state my case that, since one posting (heck, can't even find the whole thread!) "disappeared" (nodge, nutch, whatever ...) , I was set to ZERO again. Hence my feverous postings in these Fori. Oh, and I like all the bells&whistles this forum software has. It's so much easier to find one's own posting back! If they're still here ...

    On the other end; I respect your moderation and the ultimate consequences, but I was only trying to help ...
