    It looks like a filter was used or post processing of some sort to me - I noticed that on the trunk, but what I don't know, I am no photographer myself

    No filters. The snow plastered to the tree does almost make it look kind-a posterized. The unfortunate thing about the tree photo is at the lower right there appears a rectangle -- I think it must be a reflection but I'm not sure what it would be. It is a bit odd.

    Thanks Ross - yes posterised that's what I thought more or less....

    A mysterious looking tree then as well as talkative

    Rectangle sure looks like a reflection to me, I get lots of them when I [am allowed to] take pics

    Odd that you should mention that. I do live in an area frequented by visitors. Here's a pic I took in 2002 near my home.
