Now I understand. I don't use the bitmap tracer or the plug-ins except when trying to answer someone's question about them. I would take the approach of drawing pure vector objects.

Here's my try using the free version of ArtRage.
Image used in the tracing paper with the automatic color picking option turned on, then the blank canvas was drawn over using the oil brush. Luckily, my good old Graphire held together through the half-hour ordeal...
Still working on the vector version.
Very nice G-man...looks like it could have been hand painted.
It was. Well.... partly, at least. Color picking was being done automatically and I was basically tracing the pic. So I guess you could call it computer aided painting... .
The first image was enhanced in Xara Xtreme Pro 3.2. The second one with two different settings was traced, and the third was enhanced again.
