Mike, with all respect, but by telling people that it's 100x better than everything you've seen you're advising a tool that might give them a false sense of security.Originally posted by Mike.S:
it is 100x better then any other virus program i have seen. it has stopped toolbars from installing and browser hijacking. it has caught a trojan that was emailed to me from a friend that had infected his address book. my spyware programs have litterly nothing to catch anymore.
I know, you're exaggerating, but from an older guy like you I didn't expect a teenager reaction.
Here's some test:

For your information, Avast scores 11th place out of 13 scanners tested, not something what I would call a top score. And this was not even the free version.
So next time when you talk about things you don't understand, go to http://www.wilderssecurity.com/ and do some reading before people get infected because of your lack of experience. And as for your scanner catching all that crap on your computer; with all respect, but that says more about your inexperience as a user than the quality of the tool. I use Kaspersky which is considered one of the best (tests back that up) and I have never caught one single nasty one with this scanner, because I know what to avoid.
Btw, since we're talking about security now; here's a list of all kind of Anti-Spyware that turns out to be useless and trust me, there is a lot out there that falls into this category:
