SteveS, you were quite harsh in your post. Mike was relating his experience and his use of 100x was an obvious exaggeration to express his pleasure with the product. Even if it is not in the top 10, if it was of assistance to him then it was worth the post on this section of the forum.

Password storage: Any Password tool to store passwords, favorite URLS, notes on registrations, etc. Tiny file, easy to use and so helpful.
Antivirus: AVG Free Edition When my Norton died, I switched to this terrific freebie.
Firewall: Zone Alarm Has nag screens but is easy to use and does the job.
Create fast Thumbnails: Easy Thumbnails quickly makes clean thumbnails in batches, has many optimization settings and compression settings.
Tutorial software: WINK This program creates FLASH tutorials. Someone already mentioned the Morphing software but thought I'd mention this one too.
Webmaster tools: Screen Caliper, Color spy and Web tool Three nice products (web tool also has a pro version) that make web building easier.
Backup program: BLAUNCH No spyware/scumware here. It simply creates a backup of your file when you open it. Unlimited copies. Simple
