Default Re: Gary Broke His Leg

Thank you all for your kind wishes. They brought a smile to his face.

So long story short – he is out of the woods and on the way to recovery. His spirits are good and he is willing to work hard at the rehab so he can get home ASAP.

The leg bone repair went well and they were able to recondition and leave in place the old hip implant and avoid a lot of reconstruction, and pain and possibly iffy results when bone has to regrown into new equipment. So even though it was a big surgery the hip implants themselves are securely bone anchored and that will shorten the recovery time.

They got him standing up on his feet twice this morning, with his good leg just touching ( not load bearing). Walking is planned for tomorrow. On Sunday morning he is being transferred to a skilled nursing/orthopedic rehabilitation facility. I don’t know how long he will be there – I’m imaging a least a week but I really don’t know yet.

Default Coming Back from Spring Break

    Coming Back from Spring Break

I’m at home now, getting in-house therapy, and I’d like to thank you all for the kind sentiments. My intentions are to create a June Xara Xone Content Fest, with a video tute, a neat written one by Frances, and a very strange but wonderful Giveaway (at least in my opinion)

Fred’s cartoon Post # 20) is inaccurate but very funny! You folks need a better source image to retouch in Xara. And Ron or Rik might be best at it, because they like to do shiny metal parts a lot :

The diagonal line represents the current state of the femur; clearly, the break has been set. The other stuff is Titanium: the shaft of the hip replacement from 22 years ago, plus these rings that are holding the femur together, for now until it grows back into the highly biocompatible Titanium, with micro-pores to allow re-joining.

    Brilliant work.

I could only wish it happened to someone else to appreciate better.

My Best, and happy to be near a computer and the forum once again,

Erm, no. stygg. See, with only one hip done, trying to run at superspeed would only corkscrew me into the ground.

Although that, too, might be interesting to video for YouTube.
