    Default clematis

As with the thistle, it's all in the title.

Beautiful and very realistic looking. Nice texture on the petals.

    Derek,

I'm going to smash my head through the monitor. Your style is fantastic and one I'll never acheive. This image is so "unvector" like, that you can almost feel the texture of the petals and leafs. Thanks for sharing.

Like Egg I think the texture of the petals are wonderful. Great drawing Derek and a lovely style can I be rude and ask how long it took you to complete.
Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep.

You can be as rude as you like; in the privacy of your own home obviously. I know I am.
As for your other question, how long the drawing took then it’s hard to say. The basic drawing was done a little while ago. Last years crop of clematis actually, but I ran out of steam with the fiddly bits in the centre of the flowers and after doing the petals on the foreground flower. I picked it up again and did a bit more embellishing and finishing; so the answer is somewhere between just over a year and five or six hours, at a guess, if it had been done in one session.
I do tend to start things and then leave them, as well as have short sessions drawing for “fun” in between producing paid jobs. (Either that or 15 minutes of killing anything that moves in Quake III).

You might be right Norman but we'll never know as it was cut down last Autumn because we had to replace some fencing. It had a trunk on it like a small tree. I had hoped it would grow back but theres no sign.
