Aha! Cookies, why didn't I think of that. I'll tell you why - browser psychosis, characterised by delusions of persecution!!!

However, thanks for the tip. You're quite right I did have cookies disabled.

Whats your ticket number? im afraid i got confused with your replies.
As far as i can work out you encounter the error message connect attempt failed when attempting to unlock xtreme pro. This error would be caused if the connect registry key is missing from HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Xara\XaraXtremePro\Conn ect
If this is the case then extracting and merging the reg file from http://support.xara.com/index.php?_m...mid=14&nav=0,1 would cause the reg entry to be added.
Once complete you should try unlocking xtreme pro again. If this still fails then re-confirm the error message being returned.
Other common problems when unlocking are caused by security based applications preventing Xtreme Pro from accessing the internet.
After paying I downloaded the new Pro DL version, uninstalled the beta, and then installed the new version, which unlocked with no issues.
The only problem I had along the way was that I forgot my password for my Xara account, and the password "hint" is the gibberish default password that was set when I originally set up the account to buy Xtreme last year.
Took a lot of prodding in the ol' brain to come up with the correct password, but smooth sailing after that!
This signature would be seven words long if it was six words shorter.
I made several unsuccessful attempts to unlock the latyest download.
Turning off the firewall solved that one.
"Intbel" ... "Can't" is not an option.
Compliance is futile. Resistance is futile. Just do your own thing an' ignore 'em.

Yep like you told an I placed what was in that folder. As far as i can work out you encounter the error message connect attempt failed when attempting to unlock xtreme pro. This error would be caused if the connect registry key is missing from HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Xara\XaraXtremePro\Conn ect
Well, I watched was in there, and after I did the unzip thing and executed itIf this is the case then extracting and merging the reg file from http://support.xara.com/index.php?_m...mid=14&nav=0,1 would cause the reg entry to be added.
I saw no difference from what was already in there, do I have to have the
unzipped file in a certain folder before executing it maybe?
I still get the same message after I have done all that is described onOnce complete you should try unlocking xtreme pro again. If this still fails then re-confirm the error message being returned.
the helppage of the pro.zip.
Well, I have used 'enditall', and so killed all background programs (even checked manually and killed some non essentials more) still the same problem.Other common problems when unlocking are caused by security based applications preventing Xtreme Pro from accessing the internet.
Hmm maybe this is related, my webstyle 4 gives this message when I try to upgrade, could be a related problem?

error 0x80004003
The most likely cause is some security based software preventing the Xara program from connecting to our server
