Hi!
Which software from "Xara's products" is needed to open "CDR" files?

If you still have CorelDraw installed, you can save your artwork as a *.cmx file which Xara can import. I'm not sure if the import filters are up to date, but xtreme opens *.cdr and *.cdt files without any additional tweaking.

We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.

Hi,
Having CorelDraw12 I usually create in Draw copy to clipboard then paste into Xara/Xtreme as CorelDraw Cmx and keep formating, it comes in as one group and you have to ungroup to access the shapes. I find that exporting from draw to CDT/CMX you have to adhere to specific version of Draw to import directly to Xara, where as copying to clipboard does not require import filter. There are some effects that don't come in as expected tho'.

Hi guys,
i've only XaraXtreme software for evaluation, and i've only a CD with all CDR clipart from corel (not a software).
My question is follow:
When with XaraXtreme i try to open the CDR files, the system return me:
"That file is not recognised by any of the installed filters"
The thumbnails preview show me the clipart but not open them.
Anyone can help me ?
Best Regards,
D.Plant
Best method is to copy the CorelDraw image to the Windows clipboard, then paste the image into Xara Xtreme.
I don't know precisely what version of Corel Draw's images Xara Xtreme would stop importing, but I'm sure it does at some point.
Perhaps Sally Bode, a moderator on these forums would know the answer.
I thought I responded to this this morning, but I must be going mad.
I am pretty sure Xara can only open CorelDRAW version 5 files.
So if you can save your drawing to version 5, then you can use Xara's CDR filter to open the file.
Otherwise use one of the techniques suggesed previously.

hi D. Plant,
you have to open them with a version of Coreldraw them copy to clipboard..them paste into Xara/Xtreme using CorelDraw cmx as the paste attribute. Copying from clipart CD to Clipboard does not work.

In regards to what Gary mentioned above, there is one more hitch.
I believe the more current versions of Corel don't export back to version 5.
I an not sure when the v5 export filter was eliminated, however. My guess is Draw10.
