Xara X brushes are particularly well adapted to simulate some kind of yarn and tissues !!!

Here I have used a 5 steps blend between three beveled curves, applying a somewhat different light angle to the middle one.
Then I have converted the blend to editable shapes, ungrouped, created bitmap copy of each step and converted each copy to editable shape with a single tile filling.
After that the whole 13 objects were converted to a brush and I have changed rotation in adding some degrees. Right I have slightly randomised rotation.

Enjoy,
ivan

...only three copies of the same beveled curve (the first and the last are identical to avoid disrupture).

Great effect Ivan!

Quite strikingly 3Dish
How'd you go about creating the 'flower' image from your brushes? Just draw it with circular strokes?

It looks quite like a bunched up cloth too. That could be useful. Cool!

Take care,
Mark...

Hi Mark,

thank you. That was only a hand made spiral, slightly adjusted, and I have also adjusted the pressure profile (just a little bit narrower at the center of the flower).
For this kind of objects it's much more natural to use free hand drawing than mathematically exact spirals !!!

Ivan, it's always great educational fun to see how you play around with XX. Keep it up!

These breathtaking textures are of great interest to me. I need to create some images of Victorian people and clothing. Poser looks a great product for the people but I will need to create the clothes. As I understand it, I would have to create textures, save as a bitmap and then wrap them round the bodies.

Has anyone used Xara for this? Velvet is now possible. What about lace?

Thanks

I remembered I tried something like that last week. This try is made of editable shapes filled (allways single tile !!!) with bitmap copies of one of my image from the post "blend on a curve with an offset".
The line on the right is made of several copies of different sizes obtained with a blend (see above).
