Xtreme installer crashes

I have just downloaded Xara Xtreme, and purchased an unlock code. I cannot get it to install. After I confirm the location of the installation (C:\Program Files\Xara\Xara XTreme\) I get the following:

Xara tech support have asked me to try various things: running the exe in NT compatibility mode, disabling virus scanners, etc, etc, but nothing has worked. They have not been able to provide me with a fix.

I have also searched through my filesystem and registry and erased all traces of any previous Xara installations.

Can anyone please help me get this up and running?

From the error code and the offset address, it appears as though you have a corrupt download. I would recommend downloading again and if you use an download manager, turn it off before beginning the download.

I had a similar error (code -6009) which I fixed by deleting Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield. You could try that if a redownload fails.

I *hate* installers, especially ones like InstallShield that go wrong in undiagnosable ways and scatter pointless files all over the HD.

I'd really like an installerless (.zip) distribution of Xara.
