Default Why do imported bitmaps look awful?

I'm creating a flyer in Xara Xtreme and need to bring in a couple of bitmaps; but, I'm experiencing issues with the quality of the bitmaps when they're imported into Xara.

I open the picture in Photoshop CS2, resample to 300dpi, change the mode to CMYK, resize to fit, and then save the image as a TIFF. In Photoshop, the image looks perfect.

But, when I import the TIFF into Xtreme, it looks awful. The image appears darker and as if the contrast is being overcompensated.

Note: I did the same with CorelDraw 12 and the imported TIFF image appears perfectly.

So...why is this happening in Xtreme?
And...what is the best method to bring in high-res images from Photoshop without affecting quality??

Any advice and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Ron

    Ron,

Have you tried double clicking on the bitmap. It should bring up another menu that you can use to adjust the quality of the imported bitmap.

    Hope that helps.

    Ron,

Xtreme works in RGB colourspace, try exporting your tiff from Photoshop as an RGB image instead of CMYK.

    Thanks, Bill (Soquili)!!
That seemed to do the trick...at least on screen it looks correct. I'll be printing it out shortly, but I think it'll be fine.

    Thanks again!
