That is a most useful brush - many thanks.
I had a bit of a play .. can be used also for bracelets an' tyre treads an' .. what else?
Those braided borders are usually embosed.
Nice job John.

Cheers John
Ropes in a circular shape are difficult to do as a brush as they tend to have overlaping edges internaly and to big a space on the outer edge.
I've used your shape and applied a mould to widen the top. This makes for a good rope to use in a circle but not so good for a straight line.
Thanks, Egg.
I was hoping someone would work on improving my initial attempts.
Looking at your example I can see how I can make other improvements. However, it all depends upon the radii of the curve's stroke (in this case a circle) and the line width (which determines the required angle of rotation property). .... Now that would be some piece of programing, a new brush property called "deform" which would gently skew a brush shape at a specified point depending upon the spacing and/or rotation angle. I'm sure Charles could sit down and come up with the code to do so within an hour or so ;)
John
Yes that would take brushes onto another level!
Nice rope look and feel :)

If you apply a blend to your shape instead of a contour, and then blend to a path, Xara maintains the light angle.
For some odd reason I added a Glow Shadow (second example) which has some of the feeling of Milt's Mayan Blood image.
Gary
Gary, I also used the glow shadow effect extensively in my Mayan imageQuote:
